Can Teachers Make Money Online?

Are you a teacher wanting to make money by selling your products online? Do you have great ideas and/or lessons you have created that you want to share? Well, let me tell you that you absolutely can make money by selling your resources online. Did I say it was easy? Did I say you would make a lot of money in a short time? No. In fact, as I am in the midst of month two of selling my personally created interactive lessons, I can show you exactly how much online money I have earned.

Below you will find my first-month earnings from Boom Learning and my current earning which is current as of today, 06/10/21. I still have 20 days to earn some dinero! 🙌  As you can see, I earned $51.67 in my first month and I am currently at $35.49 for month two. Not bad for a beginner. Are you wondering about Teachers Pay Teachers? Yeah... I made $7.55 my first month and so far this month, I am at $0! 😒  I have some work to do on TPT!



I have had sales on different items that I have created in my boomlearning account but the decks that really seem to be taking off are my simple story comprehension boom cards. I write five simple stories with three basic level questions for each story and sell the deck for $1.20.  Based on my analytics, I am able to see that people who visit my store are wanting more comprehension activities so that is what I have been focusing on. You can see examples below:



I have spent a lot of hours creating these interactive activities because I love that they give students feedback right away and that the system gives teachers documentation they can use for progress monitoring and/or other record-keeping needs. It is great for students and teachers. 

All boom decks are housed in the boom learning site and it is free to use for teachers. There are different membership prices if you want to have large groups of students and create your own cards but you can start for free like I did! And, there are literally hundreds of free decks for you to use with students that you can literally use this platform for free for a while, seeing your students truly enjoy the interactive nature.


When it comes to earning dinero online, I know some teachers make way more money than I have made when they start off, but for many, this process of making money online is going to take some time. I say patience and consistency are some of the qualities you need to have if pursuing a passive income. I have read that being consistent on Pinterest will gain you some traction so I suggest using Pinterest. When it comes to posting, whether on Pinterest or Instagram, the bottom line is that you have to be consistent for a long while. Pinterest may take longer for you to get noticed but you will probably have more traffic and long-lasting traffic at that. 

I have also read about making sure you have a logo or business name that really speaks to who you are. Put some thought into your branding so that it truly represents you. 

Set some goals and start learning. Get on youtube, read up on SEO so your work gets traction on Google, and do not give up. Remember, you can do hard things.

There is no reason why our efforts can't be worth more. So, whether you want to make more income or you want to make a difference and want to be your own boss, or whatever the reason may be for pursuing online revenue, just go for it! Put your skills out there and fill that empty wallet! One dollar at a time.

Become a Teacher Creator...It is Easy, They Said!

  You're talented, they said. You are awesome and you are a leader, they said. You are a hard worker and need to create your own material, they said. It will be easy and you can make so much money, they said! Does this sound familiar? Well, let me tell you, I went all in on this well intentioned and motivating advice. Two months later, I have made $28.17 on my Boom Learning   journey and a whopping $6.75 on my Teacher Pay Teachers store .  The well intentioned motivators above, who constantly cheer me on, mainly my family, certainly had no clue the hard work I was going to face. Teacher Vibes...Coming in Hot!

  This teacher is ready for summer break! How about you?  Do not act like I am the only one ready to get wild and hang from a chandelier. 😂  I think we can all agree it has been a year for the books, well, maybe a digital book. :)  I know many of us had to become online educators at the drop of a hat! Wow, are we amazing. We were definitely dealt our fair share of craziness this past school year but somehow we soldiered on and are ending it like the champs we are. It never ceases to amaze me how resilient, how flexible, supportive, intelligent, and strong that we all are as educators. Whatever is thrown at us, we always manage to pivot until we find success.
